Introducing PYROCRETE 241 HD

Specifically designed for our process, Pyrocrete 241 HD has twice the compressive strength than the original 241 with the same thin thickness. 241 HD is better able to handle the rigors of handling and erecting shop-applied fireproofing without the extra weight of concrete or the high cost of intumescent materials. CLICK HERE to view the data sheet.

We are now certified to apply Thermolag epoxy intumescent fireproofing.

Whether your project requires intumescent, cementitious or concrete fireproofing, we do it all.

Fireproofing: Small Item, Big Impact

Fireproofing is generally about 1 to 2 percent of total project cost, but often has a large impact on the project. We have rarely seen a project where fireproofing was not on the critical path. The complexity of a project is in the process piping and structural steel; most engineering and construction teams focus heavily on getting that right. This doesn't leave much time for fireproofing. With our method of fireproofing, part of the shop work can be done before the steel is even fabricated. When design work is complete, we begin prep work. By shifting the timing, we can deliver a large amount of fireproofed steel in a short time. We have achieved production levels of over 11,000 sq. ft. per day of finished fireproofing.

We Understand The Whole Equation

Alfred Miller Contracting Co.Fireproofing does not produce revenue for the plant, however, it is required for safety and protection of the assets that do produce revenue. We understand this simple fact and have kept our focus on increasing our output and reducing our price while maintaining the highest level of quality available. We also understand the complexities of different fireproofing systems and can assist our clients in making the best choices suited for your individual project.

Your Lowest Total In-Place Cost

For the lowest total in-place cost for fireproofing, we maximize shop application and minimize field application. This is where our knowledge of steel detailing has tremendous impact. With the right connection details, the field fireproofing can be reduced by as much as 50 percent without increasing the cost for steel fabrication or shop fireproofing. This cost savings translates directly into schedule savings.

We're The Complete Fireproofer

Alfred Miller Contracting Co.Some fireproofers do only shop work. Others do only field work. Some do only lightweight, intumescent or concrete. We do all of the above and we coordinate it, giving you a single point of responsibility for all shop and field fireproofing. This lets you avoid problems between the shop applicator and field applicator over the size of field connections. You won't have to manage fireproofing; it will just happen in a fluid, coordinated way. We can even combine the shop portion and field block-outs into one simple unit rate, thereby, eliminating all the guesswork as to the lowest total installed cost of the fireproofing.

Our Unique Approach

Alfred Miller Contracting Co.Modeled after the Toyota Manufacturing System, we have a highly efficient fireproofing plant featuring two 6,000 sq. ft. moving buildings - rather than move the steelwork, we move the process over the steel. This enables us to process over 6 acres worth of steel at any given time and continue working day or night, rain or shine, as need be. Our single-shift capacity is well over 1,000 tons of steel per week.

Quality Control

Our unique fireproofing process is monitored by Underwriters Laboratories' Follow-Up Services. In addition to our extensive in-house QA/QC, UL inspectors arrive periodically and check random samples of fireproofed steel for compliance with the UL fire rating. This enables us to supply a UL certificate of conformance with each shipment of fireproofed steel - something no one else can offer.

One Source, No Hassle

Alfred Miller Contracting Co.Fireproofing is a small-budget item that produces no revenue for the plant; however, it protects a huge investment and can wreak havoc on a project schedule. We are dedicated to covering your fireproofing base as inexpensively, expeditiously and as well coordinated as possible. Don't spend a lot of time and effort clearly defining scopes of work to be bid by several shop applicators and several field applicators, and still get caught in a crossfire over who should have done what. We coordinate a reliable, high-quality, least-cost approach so you can put your effort where it counts.
